Where Are You Christmas?

Coming home from Lauren’s Regional Concert in Groesbeck, she and I were listening to Christmas music on the radio. This song came on and she made me listen. Do you think she knows I’m out of sorts?

“Where Are You Christmas”

Where are you Christmas
Why can’t I find you
Why have you gone away
Where is the laughter
You used to bring me
Why can’t I hear music play

My world is changing
I’m rearranging
Does that mean Christmas changes too

Where are you Christmas
Do you remember
The one you used to know
I’m not the same one
See what the time’s done
Is that why you have let me go

Christmas is here
Everywhere, oh
Christmas is here
If you care, oh

If there is love in your heart and your mind
You will feel like Christmas all the time

I feel you Christmas
I know I’ve found you
You never fade away
The joy of Christmas
Stays here inside us
Fills each and every heart with love

Where are you Christmas
Fill your heart with love

I think I’ll listen until the joy returns.

Thanks, Lauren.

Goodbye, Jacob

Tonight I had to say goodbye to Robert’s dog, Jacob. Well, I guess I actually said goodbye to my dog, Jacob.

He was injured by my dog, Reuben. We thought he was healing well. But, he had a systemic infection and it finally became more than his body could overcome.

He may have developed it because flies had been landing on his back and wouldn’t leave him alone. But, I rather think he has had it ever since he was first injured. I think the wound appeared to be healing and he was still fighting an infection. It finally became more than his body could fight.

He was a good dog. He was faithful and good. He loved Robert and missed him terribly when he was gone.

Now, sweet Jacob, I will miss you. Goodnight, my friend.

June 14, 1986

On June 14, 1986, I married my best friend, Robert. The pastor did not have us kiss at the altar. When we were walking back down the aisle, the music minister, my dear friend, Daniel Jennings, hollered “KISS HER!”

He did. And another dear friend, my photographer for the day, Clifford Bell, snapped it!!

I love you and it has been a very good day.
