Against

Our daughter and daughter-in-law have both now made entries about “The Cancer.” I wish no one had to even think about this, much less deal with it. But, from the entries posted by these girls to their blogs, it is obvious that they have faith that will help them against the storm.

We have an amazing family. All of our children know Jesus Christ and have a personal relationship with him. That is the most comforting piece of knowledge in this whole world called Cancer. We, Robert and I, know that our family will spend eternity together.

It doesn’t take the pain away, but we know that if one of us becomes weak, the others will carry us through.

Read Against the Storm. It is a beautiful devotional story from the Purpose Driven Life archives of how faith can be passed on…even by a child. Read Laine’s entry. It is an encouraging story of how her faith has grown through the loss of a parent and a mother-in-law. Read Laurie’s. It is a sweet story of the faith of young children.

Thank you, girls. We love you and you have encouraged us today.

Thank you, Jesus. Because of you, we have the faith and hope of eternity.

Good

“Good News” can mean several things.  At this time of year, actually any time of year, “Good News” can refer to the Good News of Jesus Christ, which is The Gospel.

The Gospel gives meaning to this season of celebration.  The world is celebrating Santa Claus, Kwanzaa, and whatever excuse they can find to give PRESENTS. Hopefully, most Christians are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Jesus–a baby born of a virgin.  WOW!  A miracle, a work of God….the Son of God.  Born of a woman, he came to this earth to save us from our sin.

A baby, a lamb, a beautiful gift from God.  Yet, he came to this earth to DIE!  It’s more than you can take in, isn’t it?

I cannot comprehend how God could send His Son to die for me.  But, I know that he did and that is the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Do I have MORE Good News?  Why, yes, I do.  For our family has even more to celebrate since Robert went to the doctor yesterday.  Today, we have the hope of extended life.  The doctor expressed hope of being able to treat the cancer after surgery.

This is very Good News.  And, just like the Gospel…..It’s all about Jesus.

Merry Christmas. May you know the precious love of a baby that came to earth for you. –>
