This is about a sweet gift I got today. Evidently someone thinks that I’m going through a lot and Robert gets all the sympathy. I don’t feel that way but it was a nice thought.
But, today, I received a beautiful multi-colored bouquet of 2 dozen roses. It is absolutely beautiful. We have cut the ends the way Grandma taught Matt to do and arranged them in the vase I received as a wedding gift. They are so beautiful … red, yellow, white, pink… beautiful.

The card on the roses was so sweet .. and yes, I cried. Only God knows how much I needed these … today. I was at the lowest point I have been during these months (more about that later) and then the beautiful delivery.
God is so very good to have planted this idea at just the right time so that they would arrive at just the right time. –>

Well, Granddaddy doesn’t exactly look like this today. But, almost.
Uncle Matt carried him to his chemo session yesterday, but, in the words of The Terminator, Granddaddy said “I need a vacation”. He is/was very dehydrated and exhausted. I’m convinced that continuing chemo this week would have landed him back in the hospital. Instead of chemo and other poisons, he got Saline Solution.
So…he gets 2 weeks off and the doctor said, “Then, no excuses. You get your b- - - back in here” (Well, I’m not sure that’s exactly what he said, but Uncle Matt and Granddaddy swear it’s true.)
Anyway, he’s looking forward to being able to taste his food and get to the shooting range (so I guess the NRA shirt may be appropriate after all). –>

Okay.
“4 more weeks. 4 more weeks. 4 more weeks.”
This has become our mantra. It changes from week to week. But, what it means is 4 more weeks of chemo and then a rest is coming. It is DUE.
Granddaddy has moments of feeling great and decides to clean all the floors. Then he starts. OOPS! He quite often realizes that he bit off more than he can chew but pushes through anyway. One thing he is not…a quitter.
Yesterday he remodeled my closet. He put two rods in half the closet and added a deep shelf in the other half. It is wonderful. But, he was exhausted when he was done.
He kept telling me that this should have been about a 2 hour job and it took most of the day. I kept reminding him that a few months ago, he could not have even thought about starting a project like this one, much less complete it.
I gained 50% more hanging space. I should have bought a gallon of paint and painted the whole thing while it was empty. But, I didn’t. Another chore for another day.
[NOTE TO MIKE:Yes, I can get all of my clothes and my shoes into my closet!! I even discovered I had a few things that needed to go to Goodwill!]
Now, maybe after 4 more weeks, he’ll begin to get strong enough to think about moving my washer and dryer!!!…………..
4 more weeks…4 more weeks…..4 more weeks. –>
