Well, today we need a lot of chocolate milk.
Granddaddy had a temperature of 102 for most of the night on Monday. It finally broke about 1 a.m. Of course, he said absolutely “no” to going to the emergency room. I let him win that battle since he was scheduled to be at the Cancer Center for a chemo treatment the following morning.
Uncle Matt took him to the Center at 8:00. We had already decided that he wouldn’t take a treatment, but he still needed to be seen. His temp dropped to 97 and he started having rigors. They gave him 2 litres of fluids. Dr Fleener wanted to put him in the hospital and he said “no”. But Uncle Matt had already agreed that it was her decision and he would “strong arm” him if necessary.
They stabilized him and thought it was okay for him to go home.
He had a very quiet night. He’s very weak, but he’ll recoup this week and be ready for them to shoot him with more poison next week.
Thank you God for dear friends that continue to lift up my family. Thank you for Matt who takes such good care of his Dad.
Got to love that chocolate milk! –>

My daughter-in-law posted a link to a descriptive post on prayer recently.
what i mean when i say - pray
We’ve been sitting on the back porch recently drinking a lot of chocolate milk. God is so good to bring us wonderful friends who pray.
Thank you.
And thank you to Lalaine for being the beautiful woman that you are…inside and out. We love you. –>

Well, back to chemo and the “routine”.
The doctor and Granddaddy and Uncle Matt all decided to go 6-8 more weeks with no reduction in dosage. Then he’ll be off for a while. For sure, he will be off through the holidays. He’ll probably go in every month for bloodwork to be done.
He received two pieces of good news. The CEA (tumor marker) is down a little bit more; not where we want it to be yet, but getting there. The biggest news is that he GAINED about 12 pounds while he was off for 2 weeks. About half of that was fluid. He drank everything he could get his hands on. He was extremely dehydrated 2 weeks ago and that is why he took this minibreak.
He is already losing the taste he had regained and the sensitivity to cold is back. The house was at 79 degrees and he felt chilled.
Please pray for his continued strength. This has been such a long journey and the Lord has protected him every step of the way. We are so grateful to know that so many are praying.
Looking forward to a real break in a couple of months. –>
